It’s official—if you’ve got a gas guzzler you’d like to trade in for a newer, more fuel-efficient vehicle, the government will pay you an incentive of up to $4,500. President Obama signed the bill into law Thursday.

Just beware of scams. As CNN reported, some unscrupulous car dealers are asking for personal and financial information under the guise of “registering” people for the incentive program. There is no need to register.
