Did you ever notice how fashion designers often have very fashionable-sounding names? Ever wonder how to pronounce some of them? This “designer dictionary” should help.

Tommy Hilfiger
Pronounced TOM-ee HILL-fig-ur
It’s not “Hillfinger.” Rhymes with “bigger.”

Ralph Lauren
Prounounced Ralf LORE-in
Not Lore-EN, as people often say to sound cool.

Nanette Lepore
Pronounced Na-NET LA-pour
It’s a lovely sounding name for the maker of lovely ladies’ clothing.

Christian Louboutin
Pronounced KRI-shtaan Lu-bu-TAN
He’s the maker of those hot shoes with the red bottoms—but of course you know this already.

Isaac Mizrahi
Pronounced EYE-zak Miz-RA-hee
If you’ve been watching “The Fashion Show” on Bravo, you know this already.

Zac Posen
Pronounced Zak POO-zen
Not posin’, as in standing around looking cool.
