It’s often the small, everyday stuff that we take for granted that makes it so much easier to get though a day.
For me it’s sticky notes, online grocery shopping, and the Dustbuster. I’ve come to rely on these things so much that I don’t give their origins a thought. So when I got a release the other day announcing the 30th birthday of the Dustbuster, it made me stop a minute to appreciate the cordless minivac that has sucked up more than its share of dog hair and mishaps in my household over the years.
Black & Decker is compiling “Dustbuster Moments” on its Web site. There’s even a video tribute!
And I learned something else: The first 1979 model is on display in the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History alongside Edison’s first light bulb and Alexander Graham Bell’s telephone. That's saying something!
