It's easy to be green, if you remember

Supermarkets and drugstores have made it easy to be green when you shop–you just use those terrific reusable shopping bags, right? Every market has them, so they’re easy to find.

The trick, of course, is actually remembering to bring them in to the store with you.

Now there’s a kit from Bagnesia that just might help. Along with a compact, lightweight, washable nylon bag is a door hanger, a steering wheel wrap, a carabineer clip, and a lanyard key chain for your wrist. The bag folds up really small, smaller than most cell phones, but when it’s filled it holds a ton.

The theory is that if it’s in your face all the time (on your front door, stuck to your steering wheel, attached to your belt or your wrist), you’ll be less likely to forget the bag. “These reminders help people get into the cycle of remembering their bags from home to car to store,” says "ecopreneur" Pam Eatrides, co-owner of Bagnesia.

I know it took me a while to get used to bringing my bags in with me when I shopped. They’d just stay in the kitchen after unpacking them. So my trick was to leave the bags in the front seat of the car. I HAD to see them—they were right next to me.

Another trick I use is to put my shopping list IN the bags when I put them in car. No bags, no list!

What’s your strategy for remembering? I’d love to pass it along to our readers!
