Site of the Week: Fonolo

By Kenrya Rankin Naasel on November 13, 2009 12:01:00 am

Raise your hand if you hate dealing with company phone trees to solve customer service issues. I thought so.

Well, a new Web site aims to make suffering through seemingly interminable elevator music and button pressing a thing of the past. At Fonolo.com (pronounced “PHONE-uh-low”), select the company you need to call and enter your phone number. The site will place the call for you, navigate the prompts, sit on hold, then ring your cell when it reaches a live person!

How? The site lists visual phone trees for participating companies, and you can select the department you need to contact and even enter account numbers before the call is placed, so they can make it through the system.

Fonolo can even record your conversation for you in case things get testy—the site employs a strict privacy policy that assures your info is not retained.

The site is still in Beta, but it already facilitates calls to hundreds of companies, from American Airlines to Zipcar. Happy calling!
