If you’re registering for your baby shower or wedding or another gift-giving occasion, there’s a new option out there I’m intrigued by that you might want to consider: A cash registry.
It allows you to actually register for money instead of things. The gist? The site allows gift givers to deposit cash in a personal registry account that you create. You can then use the funds any way you want—buying as you go or just having a stash of cash for the future.
Registering for cash makes sense because with a traditional, retail-based registry, there often comes a point in which you just can’t think of another thing you’ll need. Personally, though, I’d use this registry in addition to a traditional registry or two. After all, when you’re making big life changes, you still need stuff for your new home or your new baby, although money always comes in handy, too.
What do you think? Practical? Or something else? Let us know!

Based on this tip sheet I checked out Deposit a Gift, and actually found it to be really useful - so useful I actually signed up. I'm getting married this summer and we'll be moving soon after our wedding; but we haven't yet figured out exactly where. So instead of getting all of these gifts and having to move/store them, we created a registry with deposit a gift. This way we can buy what we want when we want. The feedback so far has been really good. Those who know us understand exactly why we're using this site, and have no problem with it.

I was a bit reluctant to do a registry but after doing some browsing and research, I see there are many benefits to it and I love the options and convenience of it. Plus some of my friends are horrible shoppers. Do you recommend any particular registry? Thanks for the post.
