Going mobile for movies, coupons

By Jody Rohlena on March 19, 2010 12:01:00 am

Movie lines are long, even if you planned ahead and bought your ticket at home, because you often have to wait in line to print out your tickets at the kiosk.

But if you have an iPhone, here’s one more thing you can do with an app: get movie tickets delivered right to your phone, no printing required. The ticket agent just scans your phone and you’re off to the movies!

It’s a new program from Fandango, and it’s in just eight cities so far (click here for the list). But the innovation is probably coming soon to a theater near you. Movietickets.com is working on a similar program.

In other “there’s an app for that” news, that ubiquitous mailbox staple the ValPak recently announced that its coupons are now scannable if you have a smart phone and download its app. This one works on the iPhone and iPod Touch but also the Android and Palm Pre, and it’s coming this month to BlackBerry. Go to your phone’s app center and search “ValPak” to download the app and start saving!
