I REALLY hate paying full price for anything. That's why I have a system when I shop a new season, like now.
First, I hit the stores to scope out what's hot and new. I make a mental list of what I need or just want to refresh my wardrobe. Then I wait until the markdowns—which are happening more frequently these days—to buy. Patience is a virtue, after all.
My strategy paid off even sooner than I expected just the other day. Two weeks ago, I did my first look-but-don't-buy shop with my pal Janet. I spotted a faux leather jacket that I loved at H&M. And the $25 price tag was very affordable. Still, I stuck to my rule. A week later I was passing by H&M and spotted a sign in the window: $15 off any jacket. I went in, found the jacket, and paid $10 for it at the cash register.
As much as I like instant gratification, I find it pays to delay! What's your best delayed gratification story?
