Store helps keep an eye on recalled food

By Jody Rohlena on July 27, 2010 12:01:00 am

If you’re fortunate enough to have a Hannaford supermarket near you (there are more than 170 of this customer-friendly and fun-to-shop supermarket located in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont), you might want to sign up for its new recall notification system.

It works on Blackberry, iPhone, and online. Create your shopping list online and Hannaford will let you know if something on your list has been subject to a recall. To sign up, you simply join the store’s rewards club, My Hannaford. It takes less than a minute because they don’t ask for your personal info, just an email address.

Bonus: They’ll also tell you whether items on your list are in stock at your local store, and if you identify your favorite products, they’ll tell you when your faves are in season or on sale.
