If you’re thinking ahead to holiday travels, or maybe a late-summer getaway, check out Oyster.com before you book. It shows you real photos of hotel rooms, resort pools, restaurants, and more—and they’re often not nearly as spacious or swanky as the property’s website or brochure would have you believe.
Photography can work magic, as we all know from seeing those revealing photos of celebrities without makeup. Same deal with promotional shots. But Oyster has the real deal, live shots snapped by real people.
Think about it—when you book through a website, you certainly never see any photos of dollhouse sized rooms—or scuzzy pools or sad-looking landscaping, for that matter!
Here’s an example, courtesy of our friends at Consumerist.com.
I learned about Oyster.com when I was interviewed for a TV show about travel tips. I checked out the site later and found it to be addictive! It’s fun to look at all the photos and marvel at the power of creative photography! The site is also helpful for travel planning. It gives you the lowdown on destinations (pros and cons) and creates helpful groupings, like Kid-Friendly Hotels and Historic Hotels. Plus you can confirm availability and book through the site—once you’ve checked out the photos, of course!
