I love to shop and I love to walk. Little did I know how I would combine the two recently! My quest began with a wish list from my sister-in-law, who was visiting from the UK. She wanted a Disney Princess quilt and sham for her granddaughter. Things like this in the UK are very expensive and online there weren’t that many great deals. So she asked me to keep an eye out for them in my shopping travels. Gee? Go shopping? I was up for it!
One cool and rainy Saturday I decided to hit the flea market. Even though I walked into every corner of the place, I saw no princess-themed quilts or shams. So the next stops were Kohl’s, Home Goods, Jembro, and Buy Buy Baby (all in the same shopping center as the flea market). More walking. Lots more walking. But, sadly, no luck on finding a quilt. But I sure did get my exercise in.
The next day turned out to be beautiful, so I decided to walk downtown to our waterfront. On the way, I had to pass through a Marshall’s to get out to the other side of the area. (Well, maybe there were other ways there…) I walked around the store and headed to the back toward the clearance area. There it was on the bottom shelf! A Disney Princess quilt, marked down to $29.99, with a matching pillow sham $3.99.
On the way to the register, I just happened to find a pair of sneakers for me. And since I had recently been measured for the ShopSmart bra test and found out that for years I had been wearing the wrong size bra, I picked up a couple of cute new ones for the “new me.” By the time I got to the register to check out, I was weighed down with lots of goodies. But uh-oh—the car was at home.
OK, then—time for more exercise. What was a lovely, leisurely downhill walk to the waterfront in the morning was a grueling uphill walk with hands full of packages in the afternoon. Boy, did I get my exercise and a good workout that day! It was worth it, though, for a little princess in the UK!
