Mother’s Day is coming! Mother’s Day is coming! It’ll be here before you know it (Sunday, actually). Yesterday you heard from an actual mother about the best (and worst) Mother’s Day gifts. It sure sounds like time is the best gift of all—quiet time, “me” time, no-house-cleaning time.
Lots of shops and retailers think they have the best gifts for mom ever. Just poke around online and you’ll see them all. Mother’s Day favorites, unique AND unusual, uncommon, fabulous, unexpected, special, popular … all the adjectives are out there. But mostly, I found, they’re just the usual: flowers, chocolates, perfume, bracelets, rings, necklaces, beautiful journals (to fill in during all that down time, I imagine).
Not unusual enough for me. I went hunting for interesting gifts. Here’s some of what I found.
A set of Himalayan pink salt tequila shot glasses. Now we’re talking! The salt is actually in the glass! Bring your own tequila.
How about a Molecular Gastronomy Kit? That’s a new one. “Take your tastebuds on an adventure,” the copy crows. A science project in your kitchen! Now THAT’S different!
Want to get out and about? How about a hot-air balloon ride? Wouldn't Mom just LOVE that?
If your mom is a little, shall we say, not computer friendly, how about some personal tech support time? This is brilliant. I might sign myself up for that!
These ideas (and a ton more) came from MothersDayCentral.com.
But maybe the most unusual gift of all was one I saw in this article in AdWeek: A dogfight! In a fighter jet! Wow!
So don’t say there are no good ideas out there. You just have to look up in the sky, maybe! Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there!
