Hot dog! Great slogans sell products

SSBLOG_119960841_HotDogThe American Meat Institute has finally announced the results of its national search for a slogan for National Hot Dog Month (which is July, in case you were wondering). Here it is: Hot dogs: Relish the moment!

I love it! That’s  a truly clever slogan from Gadi Lefkowitz of Baltimore, Md. And Gadi gets $250 and a custom-printed T-shirt with the slogan on it. Cool!

It got me to thinking about other great slogans I’ve heard. One of my favorites is “The company you keep,” from New York Life. (Confession: I had to go look up whose slogan that was! Which tells you a lot about advertising—I remembered the slogan but not the company.)

And there's something very clever about: Nothing runs like a Deere. SImple, clever, and it puts the name of the company right in the slogan, so you can't possibly forget it. I went poking around online and found some more. Never heard this one before (it’s local to California, I see), but hysterical nevertheless: Palo Alto Auto & Body: “May We Have the Next Dents, Please?”

The classic Calvin Kelin perfume has a classicc clogan to go with it: Between love and madness lies Obsession.

I could go on and on, and this is by no means a full list. What are your favorite slogans? What makes them stick in your head?
