Don’t hate me—my shopping has been done for weeks now. So why am I still out there? I guess you can say I’m obsessed.
I’m the one who shops for Christmas everyday. A lot of the stuff that I buy on the cheap I will donate. That feels good. I’m look for practical items like hats, scarves, socks, pjs, etc. at great bargains. There’s always someone out there worse off than me who could use something warm to wear!
And when it comes to my own holiday shopping, I’m always on the lookout. On Black Friday, I was off to Home Depot for the 99-cent poinsettias that I went around giving away to people in my office to add a little pre-holiday cheer.
Kohl’s was offering $15 cash rewards back for every $50 spent. How could I resist? I had done Jack’s dad’s shopping earlier for the grand and great grandkids, and he got a $60 reward back. On this trip, Jack came along so he could do his shopping for the entire family. His dad told him to use the $60 reward, so he combined that with a 25 percent discount. The bottom of the register receipt said that he saved over $900 (retail prices) and his credit card was charged $154. We walked out with four bags of Christmas gifts!
But while I ‘m in the store, I’m thinking ahead with a list of upcoming birthdays. If I see something, I’ll buy it and put it on the calendar next to the person’s name and birth date. If you’ve got the time, check out the clearance areas and crunch the numbers—there are great bargains out there for gifts now and in the future!
For me it’s a game and one of my favorite pastimes. If I ever win the lottery…I mean win big…I could make this my life’s work/pleasure.
