Some of the funnier (and sadder, too) things that people said they’d been regifted:
Two-year-old fruit cake
Box of chocolates with bites taken out of several pieces
Monogrammed items with someone else's initials
Used toilet seat
Electric toothbrush
False teeth
Fingernail clippers
Outdated old desk calendar
Items the recipient had originally given to the gifter
Toys with broken pieces
Gift cards that were partially used
I confess, I’ve regifted. Pretty lame, I know. But I was in a hurry, heading off to a weekend party, and I needed something other than wine to bring. No time to go to a store to shop, I shopped in my closet and found an unopened jigsaw puzzle. Perfect, I thought! It was a weekend party—lots of time for cracking open a puzzle that everyone could enjoy! Problem was, once I took a good look at it, I realized it had been sitting in my closet for a long time, so it was a little dusty and the cellophane was scratched and dirty-looking. But I had no choice, so I wrapped it and hoped for the best. The hostess was gracious and never said a word, but I feel guilty to this day! Never again!
Have you done it? What were your reasons? I was lazy and harried, but sometimes there are good reasons, as respondents mentioned in the survey, like knowing the person would appreciate the item more.
Here’s some good advice from the pros at Regiftable.com on how to do this right!
