Want to buy the new Monopoly game? You have to wait until later this year. But if you want new games now, I’ve discovered some cool places to shop.
Marblesthebrainstore is my favorite game-shopping site. It has the most imaginative games and you can see each one in action on a short video before you buy. Go from silly (Dancing Eggs, a fun party game for people of all ages) to smart (The Geekbox puzzle challenges). Free shipping on all orders too.
Buy unique, stylish poker sets, cards, and dice from Italy’s Dal Negro, on super sale at Fab.com for a few more days.
Looking for a fave game from your childhood? Check at vintagegameworld.com or, of course, Ebay.com. GameStop’s CEO said last summer that the company is considering selling vintage games. Better yet, comb yard sales, antique stores, and thrift shops, where you may find an old friend for just a few bucks. Over the holidays I snapped up mint-condition card games Authors and Racko (which my family and I wound up playing every day of the break!), for just $5 apiece.
Target stores have a great selection of games, and it’s tough to beat Amazon online.
Stay tuned for more game news, after Toy Fair, the big New York City trade show that’s going on this week. We have a rep there, and later this year we’ll try out some of the hot new techie toys, then report back on what’s fun and what’s a dud.
What’s your favorite board game?
